General Notes: That Thomas is the son of Jeremiah & Elizabeth is an educated guess. I have found no other record of a Thomas born around this period and am assuming that an entry in the Gressenhall Registers under 1769 Baptisms reading, 'Jan: 1 Jeremiah Son of Thomas & Eliza: Makins' was entered with father and son the wrong way round as there are no other records of a Thomas & Eliza(beth). Also, I have found no other records of a Jeremiah who would have been born around 1769, either. Jeremiah & Elizabeth's previous four children were born in Wendling and so on their return to Gressenhall they may have not been too well known to the registrar who may have entered the names incorrectly. The fact that Jeremiah's wife Elizabeth died and was buried in Gressenhall also suggests that they moved back to Gressenhall from Wendling. The relevant baptismal entry should, I think therefore read, 'Jan: 1 Thomas Son of Jeremiah & Eliza: Makins'.
Thomas married Jane DOBSON.
